A story for anyone who loves dogs.
One of the places I sometimes walked with my dogs is Lake Murray. It’s a man made lake, one of the reservoirs built to provide drinking water for the city. It’s a very nice place to go. There are picnic tables and restrooms and fireworks on the 4th of July. It’s very popular among San Diegans and every summer evening you can find joggers of all ages, walkers with and without dogs, families having pic-nics or fishing, bicyclists and sometimes even the elusive roller-blader. The three-mile one way (six miles to go the whole way, turn around and return) “trail” is nicely paved and marked with distances in 1/2 mile intervals. I went there once in a while on summer evenings when I just wanted to walk and not deal with snakes I couldn’t see, or rocks or roots or all the things connected with back-country trails.
