Another Finite Prompt

Daily Prompt Reader’s Block What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without reading a book (since learning how to read, of course)? Which book was it that helped break the dry spell?

How this prompt wants to be answered: The longest dry spell was six months. It was broken by Jane Gardam’s Old Filth.

Nothing to write there. My initial reaction to this prompt was, “Who could POSSIBLY care?”

A better prompt would be:

Write about a book you’ve read as if you were giving a book report in elementary school, fourth or fifth grade. Be sure to tell your “class” the title and author of the book.

OR

Have you ever been shocked by a book you read? What was the book and how/why was it shocking? The more examples the better (unless you’re too shocked)!

OR

Write about a book that changed your life or your thinking in some way. What was the change? How did the book influence that change?

  1. oh dear, giggle giggle (how I hate the use of that word), but this is an emergency situation. I was wondering how you would tackle this one (and Marilyn as well). It does not surprise me. You have never had writer’s block? You have never stopped reading? Tell me about it, or not. Oh, the suspense, the fun – these prompts are made for prompting, but what they are prompting I am not sure.
